Hurtigruten Triples the Number of Berths for Antarctica Sailings
More Availability Means More Choice for Passengers

TORONTO -   Go south – way south to Antarctica.   GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours, the Canadian representative for Hurtigruten, is making it easier to book an Antarctica cruise as the MS Midnatsol will be utilized for the 2016/17 sailing season.  This will triple Hurtigruten’s capacity for sailings in this increasingly popular region.

"With triple the berths this will make Antarctica more accessible and give more choice while meeting the demand for more experiential and nature based voyages especially to this part of the world,” said Alan Law, GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours' director of sales and marketing.

The MS Midnatsol will join Hurtigruten’s well-known expedition ship, the MS Fram, increasing the company’s seasonal berths from 2,268 in 2015/16 to 6,800 berths in 2016/17. Antarctica itineraries include highlights such as the Falkland Islands, Chilean fjords, Patagonia, the Magellan Strait and Cape Horn. Sailings will depart from October 2016 to March 2017 with prices ranging from $5,999 US to $6,666 US per person, based on double occupancy.

The MS Midnatsol, will feature 10 Antarctic voyages departing from Punta Arenas in the Chilean Patagonia and ranging from 15 to 18 days. Every sailing features an experienced expedition team to lead guests on exciting and educational landings and shore excursions including hiking on glacial ice dating back thousands of years, strolling near tuxedo-clad penguins, kayaking among seals and snorkeling in Antarctica’s frigid waters. On-board, multi-faced scientific lectures will give guests an insight into some of the same mysteries that have attracted the world’s explorers, scientists and adventurers to this remote wonderland for more than 100 years.

Hurtigruten is also revising and enhancing the itineraries and programs associated with their 200-berth deluxe explorer vessel, MS Fram. Using Ushuaia, Argentina as its base, the expedition teams will seek out new sites and destinations in Antarctica that are inaccessible to larger groups. Guests will have the opportunity to take on more challenging and extreme excursions such as skiing on glaciers and expedition camping among penguins.

There will be more choice for passengers:  the traditional Antarctic experience with all the highlights when they sail on the MS Midnatsol or for those more adventurous we will offer a more challenging and activity filled Antarctica product with MS Fram.   Both cruises will still offer Antarctica’s scenic beauty with its massive icebergs, towering glaciers and abundant wildlife.

The Midnatsol is extremely suitable for Antarctica operations as it was built for the Arctic region and boasts some of the lowest fuel consumption per passenger of any ship in the industry.

Hurtigruten has a fleet of 13 ships that provide you cruising comfort, exceptional service, and go beyond traditional cruising by offering itineraries and journeys that get close to environments, wildlife and local people in the most remote parts of the world.   For more information on Hurtigruten please visit GLP Worldwide’s website and this link: http://www.glpworldwide.com/products/hurtigruten

GLP Worldwide Offers Trip Of a Lifetime
Experience the "Great Antarctica Expedition"

TORONTO -   GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours, the Canadian representative for Hurtigruten, is offering a trip of a lifetime with a special "Great Antarctica Expedition" departing November 29, 2015.   This 20-day adventure offers passengers a truly memorable and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the beauty and majesty of Antarctica.

"Seasoned cruisers and those looking for a true adventure while still having the comforts of a luxury vessel will thoroughly enjoy this fantastic voyage," said Alan Law, GLP Worldwide Expedition Travel and Tours' director of sales and marketing.  "Antarctica is now more accessible and less expensive and is definitely on many people's bucket list," added Law.

Passage on this trip of a lifetime ranges from $14,730.00 CAD to $26,975.00 CAD per person, based on double occupancy.  The same itinerary is available for Nov. 27, 2016 as well.

Departing Buenos Aires, “The Great Antarctic Expedition” is one of the most comprehensive ways in which to explore Antarctica and the surrounding region. Hurtigruten’s deluxe expedition ship, MS Fram, winds its way through the isolated Falkland Islands, stunning South Georgia, and the wild South Orkneys before exploring the great “white continent” during early Austral summer, one of the most advantageous times of year to witness the natural splendor and enchanting wildlife of Antarctica such as millions of penguins as well as seals, seabirds and whales.  Many of these lower latitudes are almost entirely iced over most of the year and are only navigable during a select few weeks. South Georgia and the Falklands place guests in the unique position of being within the Antarctic Circle yet outside of the formation of sea ice.

Guests will then join a small club of travellers who get to step foot on the majestic white continent. Polarcirkel landings, ranging from the volcanic Deception Island to the spectacularly photogenic Half Moon Island, provide opportunities for snowshoe hikes, whale watching , overnight camping, kayaking and viewing the phenomenon known as ice calving, as the massive ice shelves of the Antarctic continent turn into mile-long tabular icebergs in the strong currents of the Waddell Sea. Expedition guides are on board to lead the guests through the many penguin colonies and educate them on the history, geology, wildlife and marine elements of the region.

-2-

MS Fram draws its inspiration from the original Fram, the only wooden ship to explore both poles, utilizing advanced technology to create a purpose-built expedition ship that focuses on guest comfort and safety. It boasts only 127 cabins, many of which are named for polar pioneers and heroes. The front of the ship is specially designed so guests can observe the marine wildlife and natural phenomena that are in abundance on these voyages.

For more information on this Great Antarctica Expedition adventure and full itinerary details as well as pricing and terms and conditions please visit www.glpworldwide.com or contact GLP Worldwide at (866) 760-1987.
