Explore Norway’s charming and cosmopolitan capital, Oslo, before boarding the famous Bergen Railway, bound for the bustling, historical seaport of Bergen. There, you embark on your roundtrip Hurtigruten voyage. Relax and enjoy as you voyage to fascinating ports of call: Art Nouveau treasure trove Alesund; the ancient Viking capital of rondheim; and Norway’s polar “Paris of the North,” Tromso; as well as the magnificent, strikingly scenic Lofoten Islands.

Itinerary

Departures: Daily, all year.

Day 1: Depart Canada

This evening, depart on your transatlantic flight to Oslo.

Day 2: Oslo

Arrive at Oslo Airport. Transfer by train to downtown Oslo. The rest of the day, you’re free to visit the city’s world-class museums and shops. You may explore the city’s great cultural sites—including the Munch and Viking Ship museums.

Day 3: Oslo–Bergen

Embarkation In the morning, travel to Bergen via the Bergen Railway, a spectacular ride through Norway’s famous fjord country. This evening embark on your Norwegian Coastal Voyage.

Days 4–13: Norwegian Coastal Voyage

Sail at a leisurely pace during this roundtrip journey along the Norwegian coast. From Bergen, you’ll cross the Arctic Circle to Kirkenes and back. Ports called upon during the night on the northbound sail will be visited during the day southbound. Highlights include: the Art Nouveau architecture of Alesund, the glorious Geirangerfjord (April 15–September 14), ancient Trondheim, and the lively university town of Tromso.

Day 14: Disembarkation Bergen

Transfer to your hotel. You’ll have the afternoon and evening free in Bergen. You may visit the colorful fish and flower markets, Bergenhus Castle, and the Bergen Kunstmuseum, with its splendid collections of Edvard Munch and Paul Klee paintings.

Day 15: Depart Bergen.
