La Reine Pedauque

 

The spacious eight passenger La Reine Pedauque features a large air conditioned interior including a saloon with comfortable leather sofas, a bar with bar stools and a separate dining room. The four suites all have en-suite facilities and each have a choice of twin or double bed configuration. The suites vary in size allowing you to choose the cabin best suited to you. The facilities on the barge include a computer with internet access, a TV and DVD player, 8 bikes and a sun deck with seating. A crew of five will look after your every need during your week on board.

La Reine Pedauque is designed to be fully accessible to wheelchair users and the less physically able. The doors are wide enough for wheelchair users to move easily from room to room and there is a lift between decks. One of the cabins has shower stool, commode and handrails available on request and the height of the bed is suitable for easy accessibility. All tours are suitable for wheelchair users and the air conditioned minibus has a lift and special straps to secure a wheelchair in place.

Friday, Day 1 Dijon
Guests are met a in Dijon at 5pm and transferred by air-conditioned minibus to La Reine Pedauque. A warm welcome aboard from the captain and crew with a Kir-Royal cocktail, the perfect start to a unique and memorable stay in Burgundy. Early evening we visit  Dijon with the Captain and then return to the boat in time for our first candlelit dinner aboard.  

Saturday, Day 2 Dijon to Fleurey sur Ouche
During breakfast, we leave Dijon and head for the first of a total of 45 locks. We make our way along Lake Kir, with its leisure facilities, via Plombieres to Velars sur Ouche. Guests are welcome to leave the boat at any of the picturesque locks and to continue on foot or bicycle along the towpath to the next lock. After lunch, we continue on our leisurely way before reaching Fleurey sur Ouche, where we will moor for the night.  Dinner aboard.  

Sunday, Day 3 Fleurey sur Ouche to Gissey
Today brings us into the heart of Burgundy, into the glorious Ouche Valley. Comfortably seated on the sundeck, we will travel back through time to an unhurried world, past the enchanting village of Pont de Pany and Château la Chassagne and past Ste. Marie sur Ouche. We finally moor in Gissey and set out to explore the surrounding countryside in the company of the Captain. Dinner aboard.  

Monday, Day 4 Beaune
After breakfast, we set off on a day's excursion to beautiful town of Beaune. Here we will visit the world-famous Hospice, Hotel-Dieu and the Collegiate Church of Notre Dame. After lunch at a local French restaurant in Beaune, we enjoy a wine-tasting at a typical, local Burgundian vineyard.  Dinner aboard.  

Tuesday, Day 5 Gissey to Pont d'Ouche
This morning we begin our day with a cruise to Saint Victor and La Bussiere where we visit the Cistercian Abbey. After lunch we continue our cruise past Veuvey on our way to today's mooring in Pont d'Ouche. Late afternoon we visit the medieval hillside  village of Châteauneuf en Auxois.  Dinner aboard.    

Wednesday, Day 6 Pont d'Ouche to Vandenesse en Auxois
Very hard work for the Captain today mastering the numerous locks between Pont d'Ouche and Vandenesse. For passengers it is the last chance to sit back and soak up the beauty of the surroundings. In the evening you are guests at the Captain's table for the Farewell Gala Dinner at which you will be presented with your lock diplomas.  

Thursday, Day 7 Vandenesse en Auxois to Dijon
After a generous breakfast, passengers leave the boat and are driven back to Dijon by about 11am.


On alternate weeks the cruise is in the reverse direction. This is a sample itinerary and subject to change.

An optional hot air balloon ride is available on this cruise. The balloon company charge approximately C$280 per person which is to be paid to the balloon owners on the day of the flight. Please let us know at time of booking if you are interested.
